The answer in the text is correct BUT the diagram is misleading.
The measurement of 25 is Horizontal--not slanted!! The "25" if the top of the pool.
It is the bottom line (going from the "shallow end" at 1 meter to the bottom of the "deep end" at 3m) that is slanted. This changes how you use Pythagorean's Theorem for the missing measurement. And they DO include the bottom as a "wall". Yeah. Go figure...
